Monte das Marés is idyllicly nestled in a protected nature reserve looking out to the sea from a distance and at only a short 15min drive from Faro airport, accessible via a dirt track road ‘Caminho Vale Grande’ that takes you through a valley where O "Monte" stands higher (250m above sea level) and is surrounded by a large garden of 2,5Ha with ancient olive trees, almond trees and "carob" trees.

It is the second country house that the designer duo Fred (architect-builder ) and Nele (textile designer) thoroughly renovated in a minimal and subdued style with the addition of all contemporary comforts.

This so-called Monte (a traditional Algarvian farmhouse) dates back from 1904 and is characterized by thick stone build whitewashed walls that contrast with the surrounding greenery.

Monte das Marés consists of 2 independent houses, Maré Alta and Maré Baixa.

The interior spaces of the houses are raw, modern, comfortable, and elegant and balancing between old and new.
